Les Chalets d’Adélaïde. A rare opportunity to own a fabulous ski in/ski out chalet or apartment in Grimentz.

Grimentz, medieval Swiss alpine village which overlooks the famous Val d’Anniviers and is surrounded by the “Imperial Crown” of 4,000 metre peaks that form a natural border with Italy. Its geranium-clad wooden buildings toasted dark brown by the strong Valais sun. Popular with the skiing cognoscenti – its off-piste is considered among the finest in Switzerland – and visitors in summer who come to enjoy the high alpine environment. Understated, quietly confident in its attractions, happy to leave the limelight to its Valais neighbours Zermatt, Crans-Montana and Verbier.

And yet… it would be a mistake to confuse reticence with lack of ambition. A new cable car whisks you from the centre of the village to the mountain opposite in under 8 minutes – we counted it. Spanning 3.5km it is Switzerland’s third longest cableway and transports 825 people per hour over to Zinal, opening 120km of ski pistes and acres of untracked powder bowls to explore. In total, the valley offers 220km of pistes, all covered under the Magic Pass. And planning is underway for a complex of thermal baths, spa and wellness – de rigueur in many of the Alps’ top resorts these days.

So, you would like to make this adventure playground your second home? Better act quickly as Switzerland’s Lex Weber ruling has effectively ended any new building of property in the resort. However, local promoter and estate agent Tarcise Genoud’s vision to create an ambitious residential development of chalets and apartments at the side of the piste – Les Chalets d’Adélaïde – is now well underway. It is one of the most exciting, and last new property projects in the Valais.

Adélaïde – the French version of a Germanic name denoting nobility – Athal (noble) and Haida (‘hood). These new ski-in, ski-out chalets and apartments certainly occupy a noble position overlooking the village and next to the ski piste and ski lifts. Local architects Comina have been responsible for some of the most exclusive chalet builds in Verbier and Crans-Montana. Here they have made use of the finest local materials such as old-wood and natural stone, to respect the alpine environment and the values that make Grimentz so unique.

There is a selection of 2, 3 & 4-bedroom apartments including penthouse duplexes with double-height ceilings. Sizes range from 93-170 sqm. Just twenty apartments remain for sale, of which six have already been built, and are priced from CHF 849,000.

The detached chalets can be ordered with 3-4 bedrooms/3 bathrooms and vary in size between 219- 386 sqm. The larger chalets boast indoor swimming pools and relaxation areas. Of the original 17 chalets, eight remain for sale and are priced from CHF 2,569,000. Click here to view an example of a chalet for sale and here for an apartment.

Each apartment and chalet will be finished to the highest standards and can be personalised to the owners’ requirements. An interior design team is also available if required. The last delivery is scheduled for the end of 2022.

For those looking to make an annual return on their investment, a management contract is available with a local rental agency. Les Chalets d’Adélaïde is one of the last opportunities to buy a new property in Grimentz.. Ski-in, ski-out property is rare. Not surprisingly the project has been popular with local Swiss buyers, as well as British, French, Belgian and Scandinavians.

The apartment buildings are situated at the bottom of the hill in close proximity to the ski lifts. The chalets are dotted along the road up the hill. A 5* boutique chalet hotel with indoor pool and spa/wellness will complete this unique development at the top of the slope. Owners of Les Chalets d’Adélaïde will enjoy access to the hotel’s services.
