Why do we favour one ski resort over another? What makes us try a new place, and go back? It is a complicated question - is it the culture, the ambience, or are there other more tangible factors?
Does the skiing suit me? Are the pistes spacious or crowded, is it big enough, does it have lots of groomed runs, are the lifts efficient and comfortable, can I be sure of snow?
Alpine Property intelligence is proud to join with Montenius Consult to present a new way to answer these questions – which is factual, unbiased and unopinionated.
“A VALUABLE NEW TOOL FOR HOLIDAY DECISIONS AND PROPERTY INVESTORS”
• Skimiles® measures the size of every ski resort by 10 specific factors •
• Ski Area Comfort is determined by the efficiency of the lifts, the comfort of the lifts and how much ‘elbow room’ there is on the piste •
• Snow Reliability considers the altitude, snowfall data and snowmaking coverage •
• Ski Area Value combines all these factors for one easy to recognise overall result •
Andermatt has two separate ski areas (Nätschen-Sedrun and Gemsstock). The data displayed refers to the larger one (Nätschen-Sedrun). The total length of runs for both is 75 km.
Once a Swiss army base, Andermatt is now the only ski resort in Switzerland with exemptions from the strict Koller/Weber property ownership and development laws. It is undergoing considerable expansion and investment in infrastructure as it challenges its more established and expensive Swiss peers. A small and charming historical village with cobbled streets and a river running through its centre, Andermatt has a traditional appeal. Skiers and snowboarders are attracted by its reliable snow record and extensive on and off-piste terrain and its 120km of pistes make it the largest ski resort in central Switzerland. Summer’s attractions include all the usual mountain activities as well as a championship golf course. A variety of high-end hotels, restaurants bars and shops vie for attention in a relatively small space.
What about apartment and ski chalet properties for sale in Andermatt? Andermatt’s transformation into an exclusive international destination is remarkable, hence the growth in real estate agents offering Andermatt properties to buy and rent. According to figures from UBS, this has supported a 6.9% increase in prices over the past 5 years. The ski resort will ultimately comprise 42 apartment buildings (7 completed as at 2018), six high-end hotels and residences and 28 chalets blending traditional alpine architecture with a contemporary twist.
If Alpine property for sale in the Andermatt area is of interest, consider other Swiss Alp locations either nearby or further afield.
