Why do we favour one ski resort over another? What makes us try a new place, and go back? It is a complicated question - is it the culture, the ambience, or are there other more tangible factors?
Does the skiing suit me? Are the pistes spacious or crowded, is it big enough, does it have lots of groomed runs, are the lifts efficient and comfortable, can I be sure of snow?
Alpine Property intelligence is proud to join with Montenius Consult to present a new way to answer these questions – which is factual, unbiased and unopinionated.

Schladming is part of the extensive Ski Amade region, the town is in a beautiful setting in the valley surrounded by mountain peaks. The four linked mountains around Schladming offer are best suited to beginner and intermediate skiers, there is less here to challenge the experts. Famous for its Ski-World cup night race, next on the circuit after the Hahnenkamm, Schladming also boasts a championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer, supporting its status as a fine dual season destination. Extensive wide and well-groomed pistes and efficient lifts are supplemented by 100% snowmaking cover. There is a huge cross-country ski trail network. The après ski is lively, it even has an eponymous beer. The locals are friendly, restaurants on the mountain, in town and accommodation are known to be excellent value.
What about ski chalet and apartment properties for sale in Schladming? It’s a small low turnover property market, new builds only come up every 3-4 years. Chalets are generally out of town, apartments are in the centre. It’s good value given access to such a large ski area, and proximity to Salzburg airport, but prospective buyers need to be patient to find the place of their choice. Good two or three bedroom properties here do come up from time to time, it’s worth the wait if you want to buy a property in Schladming.
