Saalbach Statistics - Introducing Skimiles®

Why do we favour one ski resort over another? What makes us try a new place, and go back? It is a complicated question - is it the culture, the ambience, or are there other more tangible factors?

Does the skiing suit me? Are the pistes spacious or crowded, is it big enough, does it have lots of groomed runs, are the lifts efficient and comfortable, can I be sure of snow?

Alpine Property intelligence is proud to join with Montenius Consult to present a new way to answer these questions – which is factual, unbiased and unopinionated.

“A VALUABLE NEW TOOL FOR HOLIDAY DECISIONS AND PROPERTY INVESTORS”

• Skimiles® measures the size of every ski resort by 10 specific factors •
• Ski Area Comfort is determined by the efficiency of the lifts, the comfort of the lifts and how much ‘elbow room’ there is on the piste •
• Snow Reliability
considers the altitude, snowfall data and snowmaking coverage •
• Ski Area Value combines all these factors for one easy to recognise overall result •

Saalbach Information & Property Market Summary

The second largest ski area in Austria, Skicircus calls itself the “Home of Lässig” (‘easy going’). The village of Saalbach is traditional and charming, it is central in the large and spread-out Skicircus domain. No shakey old lifts here, most of the chairlifts and gondolas are high speed and heated; the majority of chairlifts have protective covers. The ski area overall has something for everyone, although beginners should head to Hinterglemm; snowmaking covers around 90% of the pistes, there are plenty of rustic huts for lunch stops. Freeriders head for Fieberbrunn, which also hosts a section of the World Tour. Saalbach’s après-ski is lively. Accommodation is mainly hotels, some attractive chalets and apartments line the valley.

What about property in Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Fieberbrunn? Chalets do come up for sale, but it is not an active market for older properties and patience is required, they can command quite a premium in local terms. New well located and attractive developments in Saalbach and Fieberbrunn are well suited for non-resident buyers with good facilities, serviced options, lock and leave potential, and rental packages with good returns including the summer..
