Maria Alm Information & Property Market Summary

Maria Alm – a truly traditional village, often referred to as a hidden gem, that is part of the Hochkönig ski area joined with Dienten and Mühlbach. Hochkönig itself forms part of the huge Ski Amadé complex. This is not a mass tourist destination, but has a loyal following of locals, and mainly Dutch and German visitors. The skiing area is a decent size, catering mainly to beginner and intermediate standards. The pistes are wide and lead down through the trees, there are freeride areas and night skiing. The Königstour, 32 km long, makes a great all-day outing. 92% of the slopes have snow-making and as we see elsewhere in Austria, the ski infrastructure is modern and efficient. Après ski is there for the taking, but certainly not of the hard core variety. Maria Alm is also a beautiful spot in the summer.

What about ski chalet and apartment properties for sale in Maria Alm? For a small village there is a fairly active property market for those looking to buy property, with good size 1, 2 and 3 bedroom new developments and a choice of chalets and apartments usually available. Some lovely chalets are found in Hintermoos, overlooking the village, some with access to the slopes. The rental market here is solid, values are highly reasonable, proximity to Salzburg is another positive factor.
