Why do we favour one ski resort over another? What makes us try a new place, and go back? It is a complicated question - is it the culture, the ambience, or are there other more tangible factors?
Does the skiing suit me? Are the pistes spacious or crowded, is it big enough, does it have lots of groomed runs, are the lifts efficient and comfortable, can I be sure of snow?
Alpine Property intelligence is proud to join with Montenius Consult to present a new way to answer these questions – which is factual, unbiased and unopinionated.
“A VALUABLE NEW TOOL FOR HOLIDAY DECISIONS AND PROPERTY INVESTORS”
• Skimiles® measures the size of every ski resort by 10 specific factors •
• Ski Area Comfort is determined by the efficiency of the lifts, the comfort of the lifts and how much ‘elbow room’ there is on the piste •
• Snow Reliability considers the altitude, snowfall data and snowmaking coverage •
• Ski Area Value combines all these factors for one easy to recognise overall result •
Les Portes du Soleil consist of 5 separate ski areas. The data displayed refers to the largest one (core area between Morzine and Champéry). The total length of runs for all areas is 462 km.
Châtel is situated in the Haute Savoi department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in the French Alps and is a traditional Alpine Savoyard mountain village that links with the Swiss resorts in the Portes du Soleil ski region via the Super Châtel cable car – a quick ride up from the village and you are in the centre of the action. Popular for its charming village centre and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, Châtel is extremely popular with families, especially those with beginners as they can progress from the 83km of local pistes on to the greater challenges available in the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area. In summer there are numerous activities making this an excellent dual-season choice.
What about properties for sale in Châtel? Despite its 1200m altitude its north-facing outlook ensures a reliable snow record. Recent investment in the resort facilities and the lift system have dramatically improved connection times to the two ski areas. Châtel has seen a spurt in activity in new build projects, particularly apartments. As with other French ski resorts in the area, an increasing number come with swimming pools and spa/health facilities and rental management, and are freehold so you are not obliged to make them available for rent. There is a limited amount of ski in, ski out apartment property in Châtel and chalets for sale offered by local real estate agents.
