• Ski Area Value combines all these factors for one easy to recognise overall result •
Zermatt – instantly recognisable due to its position beneath the mighty Matterhorn, one of the most iconic peaks in the Swiss Alps. Originally made famous by mountaineers, Zermatt has attracted skiers for generations due to its extensive terrain. Europe’s highest ski lift, the Klein Matterhorn, offers skiing 365 days a year on the Theodul Glacier, where international ski teams train. Yet the ski area caters for all abilities. It is Switzerland’s sunniest ski resort and the lift system connects to Breuil Cervinia on the Italian side of the mountain, which can offer better value. Zermatt is a bustling dual season resort with car-free streets that allows visitors to shop undisturbed. Luxury boutique hotels and restaurants and the busy après ambience complete the scene.
What about ski chalet and apartment properties for sale in Zermatt? If you would like to enjoy some of the best mountain restaurants in the Alps and some of the finest views, your options are limited, since the commune has not requested an increase in its foreign ownership allocations for around 40 years. As a result, only Swiss residents may purchase a property here from the local real estate agents. Furthermore, chalets and apartment properties classified as Primary Residence can only be sold to Zermatt taxpayers. The one exception is commercial property i.e. if you purchase a chalet, staff it and make it available to rent when not in personal use.
